In short, User Panels are you. And everyone else. They're how we represent users inside of a Tangle space. Depending on whether you're interacting with your User Panel or someone else's User Panel there are different controls available. Let's take a look!
Your User Panel
- Set Your Status
- Mute Status
- Fingies Control
First and foremost is the actual display inside of the panel. This will either be your Avatar, your Video feed or your Screenshare.
Video can be turned on and off via hotkey "V" or the Control Bar icon. When Video is off, you'll display the Avatar you customized during Server Select & Avatar Customization.
If you're Screensharing, your User Panel Display will be a feed of whatever display or window you selected to share.
Double-clicking on someone's User Panel will full-screen that user. Handy for screenshares or focusing on a presenter!
Setting Your Status
The status button allows you to set a small string of text as a status. This could be "Lunch!" or "BRB!" or "Headphones On; Please knock!".
That red microphone with the slash through it will show up when you're muted. You can Mute and Un-Mute via hotkey "M" or the Control Bar
Fingies are a way to raise your hand inside of your User Panel to say "I have something to say!". There are 9 levels of Fingie- A "1" is a little hand just peeking into the frame that says "When there's a free moment, I have a small addition", whereas a 9 is a tall, waving hand to indicate "I need to interrupt ASAP!".
Fingies can be raised by using 0-9 on the keyboard or via the Fingie UI button in your User Panel. When used via the UI control, Fingies will step through 3 states instead of all 9 for ease of use.
Fingies can always be dismissed via "0" on the keyboard.
Other Users' User Panels
When you hover over another user's User Panel, you'll see an additional set of controls.
- This control is a volume slider for that user. If someone's mic is especially loud, use this slider to adjust their volume.
- This heart button sends a heart floating upwards into their user panel. This allows us to show support, sympathy or congratulations to someone without interrupting the conversation. Hearts are sent in your chosen User Color (see: Rooms & Room Editing), so when lots of folks are sending hearts you'll see a beautiful rainbow of support!
