When you're in a Tangle server you'll notice 3 prominent UI elements hovering over the screen. Working from left, these are the Control Bar, Navigation Bar and Tool/Objects Bar. Let's see what they do!
- The Control Bar. This is where you can mute, unmute and more from UI.
- This is the Navigation Bar where you can switch cursor modes and zoom in and out.
- This is the Tool Bar where you can create Tangle Objects
Control Bar
The Control Bar contains the most commonly used controls in Tangle. Let's review!
1- The Microphone allows you to Mute and Un-Mute your mic. You can also do this with shortcut key "M".
2- The Camera allows you to "Mute" your video feed. When the Camera is on it'll show the feed of the webcam you've selected. When the Camera is off it'll show your Avatar. You can also do this with shortcut key "V"
Both the Microphone and Camera icons have a small arrow in the lower right. If you have multiple mics or webcams you can use this arrow to open a menu and select the device you want to use for audio input or video output.
3- This is the screenshare button. Click it choose a monitor or window to share. The screenshare feed will replace your Avatar or Video in your User Panel. Please note that it is a known issue that your webcam must also be on for screenshare to work.
4- This button allows you to set a status. It duplicates the functionality as seen in the User Panel.
5- Clicking on this Speaker Icon unfolds the "Environmental Volume" slider. This controls the overall volume of overheard audio from rooms with open doors. Setting it to fully to the left will mute all overheard audio. Most users keep this at about half-volume, which gives you a nice coffee shop din!
Navigation Bar
The Navigation Bar, found at number 2, is in the lower right hand side of your screen and contains the essential functions to navigate Tangle, especially if you don't have a mouse handy!
1- Shared Pointer. This turns your pointer a labeled pointer that other users can see. This is handy if you're gesturing to a specific document or area of the Tangle.
2- Grab Hand. This gives you the power to grab the Tangle and move your view. This is replicated by Left-Clicking on a mouse.
Note that 1 & 2 are toggles and can be combined or used seperately.
3+4: Zoom In and Zoom Out. This is also replicated on a mouse scroll wheel.
Tool Bar
1- Stickies. Stickies contain text and can be dragged around and stacked.
2- Images. Images are, well, images and can be moved and resized.
3- Rooms. Every user gets a homeroom and every server has a lobby, but you can also create more Rooms for whatever needs you can imagine- Standups, Lunch Tables, Sprint Planning etc.
Creating objects is easy! You can either click and drag from the toolbar or click the object you want to create and then click where you want to place it.
