Tangle Known Issues

Here you can find a list of issues currently being investigated by our team. This list is a living document and issues will be added and removed as they are updated or resolved. This list does not include every single issue we are working on, but it does include the more prevalent issues.

Server Select

Server select scroll bar does not fit all menu items

Problem: The list of servers does not scroll properly in the server select menu. Only an issue if you have more than 10 servers.

Tangle Objects

"Failed to download image" error

Problem: If you have a slow internet connection, some images in Tangle will not load and you will receive a "Failed to download image" error.

Can interact with UI when holding objects (sticky/image/room)

Problem: When images are dragged across the server, sometimes you are able to click into other elements in Tangle (for ex: room editing, hearts, etc).

Cannot use keyboard shortcuts after editing or adding a sticky

Problem: After you edit or add a sticky, your keyboard shortcuts will not work.

Workaround: Click on the sticky and click off of it again, then your keyboard shortcuts will work again. You can also click any object or open any menu to exit the sticky selection state.

When you click on the edge of an image and drag, it moves and resizes

Problem: When you click on the edge of an image and try to move it, it resizes.

Workaround: When moving an image, grab it from the center rather than the sides.

Image resizing sporadically stops working

Problem: Sometimes, usually with a fresh install, you cannot resize images immediately after uploading them.

Workaround: Click on an image first before resizing.

Sticky metadata can be covered by newer objects

Problem: New objects (images, stickies) that are placed in front of older sticky notes cover up the old sticky's metadata.

User Panel

Fingies functionality is sometimes unresponsive to clicks

Problem: If your cursor is moving, sometimes the clicking function on the fingies feature stops working.

Workaround: Use 1-0 keys to raise, lower, and dismiss fingies.

User Panel arrangement can overlap/get stuck if multiple users join room at/near same time

Problem: Sometimes, when a user joins a room, the arrangement of avatars and/or video feeds gets mixed up and overlaps over one another.

Workaround: Have someone join or leave the room. This will usually fix the positioning.

Audio Inputs

Microphone sometimes unchecked in system preferences

Platform: MacOS

Problem: When you first set up Tangle, it may seem like your mic is not working or is not transmitting, but you might have the mic option unchecked in your MacOS settings.

Fix: Make sure mic is enabled (checked) in System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Microphone.

Avatar Customization

[Feedback] Avatar Menu - Blush is difficult to see on darker skin colors and some bright colors

[Feedback] Minimize or exclude beards and mustache options from Avatar randomization

Avatar Customization Menu - Clicking options quickly will sometimes require a double click

Problem: Quickly selecting options in the avatar menu will sometimes not register clicks.

Workaround: Click options more slowly.

Avatar Menu - Opening the Avatar Customization Menu multiple times starts you at the bottom of a category's page instead of the top.

 

Avatar Menu - Randomize / Reset does not update individual highlighted items

Problem: After randomizing or resetting your avatar, any previously selected items will still be highlighted.

Status: In progress

Avatar Customization Menu - bandage appears in two different sections

Problem: The face nose bandage appears as a general accessory and an accessory in the nose section.

Status: In progress

Avatar Customization Menu - Undo button clears entire avatar rather than reverts to last save

Status: In progress

Avatar Customization Menu - Top ponytail does not layer correctly with most hats

Problem: The top ponytail will sometimes be placed behind hats.

Avatar appears low resolution at higher scale factors

Problem: Scaling sometimes causes avatars to be blurry in-app and in server select. Only on high DPI screens.

Sound

SFX still come from default audio system when switching audio settings within Tangle

Problem: SFX will continue to play through your default audio system even if you change the audio output settings in Tangle.

 

User Interface

UI scaling setting causes audio and video settings to be illegible

Problem: Depending on your UI Scaling settings, text in the audio and video settings in the Control Bar becomes blurry.

Workaround: Adjust your UI Scaling settings.

Control Bar toggles (screenshare, mute, etc) sometimes require two clicks to activate

Problem: Sometimes when you click on an item in the Control Bar, it does nothing.

Platform: MacOS

Workaround: Click again.

Shared Cursor appears underneath User Options

Problem: The Shared Cursor is not visible when you have the Tangle Settings Menu open. It shows beneath the Menu window.

Workaround: Exit the Settings Menu (or any other menu you are trying to use), disable shared cursor so that you are in normal interaction cursor mode, and open Tangle Settings again.

UI Scale factor affects share cursor but not move cursor

Problem: The Shared and Move cursor icons can appear different sizes. This happens when scale factor is in place. The Shared Cursor changes with scale factor but not the Move Cursor.

 

Device Manager

Tangle does not automatically switch to system audio

Problem: If you change your default devices in Windows, it does not change in Tangle.

Workaround: Restart Tangle.

Unplugging devices does not update audio/video settings menu in real time

Problem: Audio and video devices will not appear/disappear in the audio or video settings when plugged/unplugged while Tangle is active. Tangle must be restarted for any plugged/unplugged devices to be added/removed.

Platform: Windows

Workaround: Restart Tangle.

Cursors

Delete button appears above cursor when "Share Cursor" is on

Problem: The Shared Cursor appears below the element instead of above it.

Workaround: Switch back to normal cursor.

Cursor overlapping as Shared Cursor's name will disable zoom functionality

Problem: Zoom function does not work if your cursor is on someone's Shared Cursor name tag.

Fix: Move the Shared Cursor off the name tag before zooming in/out.

Notifications & Toasties

Disconnecting from the server due to loss of internet does not show a Toastie

Problem: When you are disconnected from your Tangle server due to a complete loss of internet connection, no Toastie appears to alert you that the internet connection was lost, only a console error.

 

 

With internet turned off (or unavailable), Tangle asks you to update

Problem: When you open Tangle with no internet, it will show you a "Please update Tangle!" Toastie after launching. You do not need to update Tangle, but you do need an internet connection to run Tangle.

Receive "cannot reach servers" (WiFi is not on) error and prevented from logging into Tangle

Screenshare

Screenshare disables viewer's audio

Problem: When one person starts screensharing, sometimes they cannot hear the other people in the room who are viewing the screenshare.

Workaround: The user screensharing can mute their mic and then unmute their mic to hear the other users again.

Core Tech

Uploading a giant photo that exceeds our limits does not provide any negative user feedback

Clicking off Tangle and back on will activate Click/Hold

If your internet disconnects, you get an infinite wiggly line of loading
